Starting in Mid-April 2014, my wife and I took a six week, one night a week course on backpacking, taught by members of the Intermountain Alpine Club (IMAC) at the REI store in Kennewick, Washington. Each night after class, I created a list of keywords to capture the topics each of the speakers emphasized each week. The course was a remarkable educational experience. I then incorporated the keywords for the course into a Search Word Pro ebook dedicated to hiking and created this ebook. The book includes:
• Getting Started – The Basics
• Getting in Shape for Hiking and Backpacking
• Wilderness Medicine
• Clothes
• Cooking, Food & Water
• Compasses, GPS, Maps and Apps
• Packs, Bags, Pads & Gear
• Trip Planning & Preparation
• Weather Forecasts and Apps
The second part of the book then focuses on hiking opportunities covering the whole of the United State. Organized by State, this ebook will provide search results for over 400 designated National Park Service units encompassing:
• 25 National Military Parks, National Battlefield Parks, National Battlefield Sites, National Battlefields
• 125 National Historical Parks, National Historic Sites, and International Historic Sites
• 4 National Lakeshores
• 29 National Memorials
• 78 National Monuments
• 59 National Parks
• 4 National Parkways
• 20 National Preserves and National Reserves
• 18 National Recreation Areas
• 15 National River and National Wild and Scenic Rivers and Riverways

• 10 National Seashores
• 11 other types of sites (White House, National Mall, etc.).
